Siegfried Althaus / Chairman of the Board

Siegfried J. Althaus has been chairman of the board at SPIRIT/21 AG since November 1, 2008.

Born in Piskowitz/Saxony in 1945, he studied mechanical engineering in Wuppertal and graduated in 1969.

In the same year, he started his career as a production engineer for an automotive supplier located in Wuppertal. In 1970 he moved to the Sindelfingen plant of IBM Germany.

He started at IBM as a process engineer and went on to serve as a manager in several areas. Particularly important were the 5 years he spent in the US with IBM. In 1998, Mr. Althaus ended his career at IBM as division director for Site & Connectivity Services, which was part of the Global Services business unit.

At the end of 1998, he and Heinz-Günter Gärtner founded SPIRIT/21 AG. Mr. Althaus was CEO until 2007, at which time he became manager of the newly founded SPIRIT/21 Holding GmbH.
